How can I spot and report a possible dating scam?

Be cautious if someone you met on Jalebi gives inconsistent information, refuses to verify their identity, or claims to work abroad in a way that prevents meeting. Jalebi's support team has seen reports involving people who claim to be doctors, engineers, or military professionals working away from home. A person's job or location alone is not evidence of a scam.

  1. Do not send money or share financial information, passwords, authentication codes, or sensitive personal details with someone you have not verified.
  2. If you have moved your conversation to WhatsApp or another service and believe it is a scam, block the person there as appropriate.
  3. In Jalebi, use Report on the suspicious profile, and save a screenshot if possible.
  4. Email Jalebi support with the profile name and a short explanation of what happened. Avoid sharing unnecessary private information about third parties.

The Jalebi team reviews reports to protect the community. If money has been taken or you have disclosed payment information, contact your bank or the relevant local authorities as well.
