Your privacy is our highest priority. This Policy explains what we collect, how we store and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

It covers the Jalebi app, this website, and the Jalebi Matchmaking service. By using any of them, you agree that we can collect, transfer, store, disclose and use your information as described here. Information is sent to and stored in the United States regardless of where you live.

Information we collect

There are three basic categories: information you give us, information we get when you use our services, and information we get from others.

Information you give us

When you create an account on the app, we ask for the information we need to verify that you are who you say you are:

Name
Email address
Gender identity
Date of birth
Sexual preference
Photographs
Location

If you contact us through this website, we collect your name, your email address, and whatever you choose to write in your message. You can also give us your phone number, which is optional: if you do, we use it to find the Jalebi account registered to that number so we can answer you properly. We use all of it to reply to you.

If you register for Jalebi Matchmaking, we collect the answers you give in the matchmaking application, together with any photographs you upload. Your matchmaker uses this to find and vet introductions for you.

Information we get when you use our services

Geolocation: only if you give us permission. You can turn this off at any time (iPhone: Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Jalebi. Android: Profile → Privacy → Off). If you decline, we do not collect it.
Usage and device information: how you use and interact with the app, so we can improve it and recommend more relevant connections.
Links: we may track how you interact with links, including third-party ones, by redirecting clicks or other means. We may share aggregate click statistics, such as how many times a link was clicked.

Information we get from others

Other users: other members may provide information about you, for example if they contact us about you.
Social media: if you use a social login (such as Facebook Login), that account shares some information with us.
Cookies and similar technologies: cookies, web beacons, web storage and advertising identifiers may be used to collect information about your activity, browser and device. Most browsers accept cookies by default; you can remove or reject them in your browser settings, though some features may stop working.

This website

You can browse this website without an account. We do not require you to sign in to read it.

This site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google and Google receives your IP address in the process. That is the only third party this website calls out to.

How we use your information

To offer you our services and features, and to develop new ones
To help you connect with other members, and to recommend relevant and meaningful connections
To contact you about the app: updates, new features, and products we launch
To personalise the app and the content we deliver to you
To deliver relevant offers and tailored advertising
To conduct research and analytics about how you use and interact with the app
To resolve disputes between you and other members
To investigate fraud, protect our legal rights, and enforce our Terms & Conditions
To reply to you when you contact us, and to find your Jalebi account if you give us the phone number it is registered to

Who we share it with

Other users: we share personal data with other members when you voluntarily disclose it. For example, we display your profile to people we match you with.
Your matchmaker: if you use Jalebi Matchmaking, your matchmaker sees your application in order to find introductions for you. Your details are shared with another member only with your consent.
With your consent: for example, when you use a third-party client or application to access your account.
Service providers: third parties who help us deliver the service, such as analytics or customer-relationship tools. We vet every provider and put contractual safeguards in place before giving them personal data.
Moderators: to monitor activity and approve content.
Law and harm: we cooperate with law enforcement where required by law, or to protect the vital interests of a person. This may include preserving or disclosing your information.
Business transfers: if Jalebi changes ownership, we may need to disclose personal data as part of that transaction.
Aggregated information: we may share aggregated data that includes your personal data but does not identify you directly, for industry analysis and demographic profiling.

Cross-border data transfers

Sharing your data as described here may involve transferring it across borders, for instance to the United States, where data protection rules may not offer the same level of protection as where you live.

Where the service is available in the European Economic Area, personal data is transferred outside the EEA. We use standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, or another suitable safeguard, to permit those transfers.

Age policy

You must be at least 18 to use Jalebi. We do not permit under-18s and do not knowingly collect their information. If we believe a member is under 18, we terminate the account immediately.

Deleting your account

When you delete your account, your profile is removed from Discover, Likes You and Match. Anyone you matched with loses access to your profile and your conversation.

We delete your personal data from our database within 30 days, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

California residents

If you live in California, you can request a notice listing the categories of personal data we shared with third parties for their direct marketing purposes in the previous calendar year. We do not currently share information for third-party direct marketing.

Send requests to the contact address below. Please allow 30 days for a response. For your protection and everyone else's, we may ask you to prove your identity first.

Text messaging

No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with anyone.

Changes to this policy

We may add to, change, update or modify this Policy at any time. When we do, we update the date at the top. If a change is material, we will tell you before it takes effect so you have a chance to read it.
